Hand-Brushed Gold
Skilled artisans use traditional iron-forging techniques, hand-hammering each piece to achieve an organic, refined texture. The gold finish is delicately applied, resulting in a subtle, textured sheen that imparts depth and warmth.
Meet The Makers
Ironsmiths Of Rajasthan
Hand-forged metalwork, passed down through generations, continues to define craftsmanship, shaping both culture and design.
The craft of traditional blacksmiths catered to local needs, producing cooking utensils, agricultural tools, and other functional articles for village life. Tracing their origins to Rajasthan the Gadiya Lohars are a community of travelling metal artisans recognised by their decorated carts (gadi) that served as both home and a mode of transport.
The process of artisan iron forging involves heating the metal, shaping it with hammers and anvils, and employing various techniques to achieve the desired shape. Artisan iron forging requires skill and craftsmanship, resulting in unique and functional furniture.
While many of the Gadiya Lohars have now switched to a settled life the craft lives on in the hand forged pieces crafted for our Boyd collection. Forging the future, we source our pieces from small multi-generational family-owned businesses, employing skilled artisans who weave together traditional and modern techniques.
